After picking the collective !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! of !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! , I've been methodically working my way through my recently acquired Saab 900; a nice find other than typical storage related maladies. Light Sr20 because Mkolabin requested.

More pics can follow after full resurrection. Found a local Swedish specialty garage who should be able to help me source the broken rear reflector (which I suspect let in the moisture that caused the offending odor in the first place). In the process of trying to spot treat any mold that could have grown I set a new personal record. Less than 72 hrs...

...of owning a car till I managed to injure myself badly enough to drip blood on the way back into the house. Hooray for brittle plastics. Went to fold the seat down to inspect that area and the little plastic lever decided to give way. Typing this with 9 fingers has been "fun".

you haven't practiced typing with just one hand... for reasons?

It's tough to eat and type at the same time...some of us don't have your level of skill. :P

Hahaha! In the case of one handed typing I'd only have 80% of the fingers on that hand instead of 90% of my fingers. Because math.

Red top DIC?

If yes I have a spare if you ever need one.

Black top engine. Still getting the feel for what that implies but thanks.

Reffers to the type of Direct Ignition Control unit on the engine. There were two types depending on year (it's been so long I forget the year ranges / models) but you either had the black top or the red top.

Is that related or unrelated to the t5 vs t7 engine management?

IIRC, yes.

Woo. More learning. It's been 7.5 years since my last "serious" vehicle acquisition, I got really comfortable with knowing my 3-series and kind of forgot how intense the basic research process was, spent too long just "filling in the gaps."

I just went back into my 'archives' to see if I still had any of that info hanging around, but it was so long ago it must be on one of my old hard drives somewhere.

From what I remember with my 9 3...

DONT TURN THE BOOST UP TO 16PSI!!!

I did. It was super fucking fun. I walked all over a few unsuspecting performance sedans. I also blew out the seals in the turbo. Then I later blew out the motor because I never upgraded the fuel and was going really lean at 16psi...

No turbo unfortunately. But from what I read the 2.3 NA cars make a great transplant target for the 2.3t from the 9000. That's down the road. For now I will sort the basics and then tackle improved driving feel to my liking, upgraded shift bushings, maybe short throw, braided stainless lines. First things first, second things second. Then make sure a backup ride is had and perhaps think about the swap for some sleeper action.
